Reduce the amount of data (GB) YouTube uses while streaming in LTE, 4G or CDMA

I am not sure if it has happened to you, but our last bill from AT&T Wireless was $330 higher because of our data overage.

Even though we have a 40GB plan, we somehow managed to use 63GB. AT&T charges $15 for every additional 1GB, so after seeing our bill this month we were not happy at all.

After doing some research, we found that YouTube was the main culprit. Below you'll find the steps you can take to drastically reduce the amount of data YouTube uses while on the AT&T, Verizon or Sprint carrier.

  1. Open YouTube
  2. Click on the 3 Dots button/icon
  3. Settings
  4. Select to turn on the "Play HD on Wi-Fi Only" option
  5. Close the window
  6. Done

How to add an Email Address to the Safe List to prevent it from going to Spam

We get asked this questions a lot, and our approach is to simply add all of the safe senders to your Address Book, Contact, People List. There are other ways of managing your safe list, but you would need to ask your IT service provider where this list resides. Sometimes it's only managed by IT, so you won't be able to manage.

What we like to provide our clients is a solution that allows them to manage their own list. This has many benefits, including the reduction of IT requests, which saves time and money across the board.

Use Snipping Tool to make Quick Annotations & ScreenShots

You've probably always wondered how can you make notes over what is currently being displayed on the monitor. If you have, then one of the easiest way to do this is by using the program in Windows called Snipping Tool.

Easiest way to find it is by typing Snipping immediately after pressing the Windows Key on the keyboard. The search result will appear with the program "Snipping Tool". Simply click on it and press the "New" button. Then draw the area that you want to take a screenshot of by holding the left mouse button and dragging it to the end, release the button and now a new window will appear with the area you just selected.

From this new window you can highlight or use the pencil to write over the screenshot. You can then Save it, Copy it to the Clipboard or attach it to an email. I typically use the Copy feature to email the screenshot to colleagues. The Copy function is done by clicking the white paper button on top, and then pressing the CTRL + V key to paste it in the email message.

I hope you find this helpful. If you do please click Like and Share with your friend.

2 Monitors are Better than 1

One of the easiest and most cost effective way for you to work faster is to add a second monitor to your PC or Laptop. The fact is you'll be able to use programs simultaneously and reference information without having to minimize and/or switch between programs.

Adding a monitor is very simple, and nearly any monitor Brand or Size will work just fine. The only setup required is for you to physically open the box and then connect the Power and Video Cable.

There are 4 different types of Video Cables and almost all monitors have at least a DVI or VGA port. The first question is, what connector does your computer have.

Below is a gallery of pictures showing you all of the ports that a computer or laptop may have. Once you find yours, just make sure that the monitor to buy has same port.

  1. VGA (Always has a blue port)
  2. DVI (Always has a white port)
  3. HDMI (Same as the TV HDMI port)
  4. DisplayPort (Same as some TV port)

If you have any questions, please feel free to leave a comment and we'll answer it right away.

Best Laptop To Buy Right Now - Updated 5-2-16

This is one of the most popular questions we get asked. Here is our recommendation and the reasons why.

Dell Inspiron 15 5000 with an Intel Core i5 6th Gen (latest) Processor, 15 Inch 1080P Touch Screen, 8GB of Ram and 1TB HDD for under $650.

http://www.amazon.com/Dell-Inspiron-Touchscreen-Flagship-RealSense/dp/B01DTV6ISO/ref=sr_1_15?ie=UTF8&qid=1462188586&sr=8-15

For the price, you really can't ask for more. You get a very nice screen, fast processor and a comfortable to use laptop.

One of the most important features is the screen. Most laptops at this price range have a resolution of 1366 X 768, while this Inspiron has 1920 X 1080. This is a huge difference. Especially since most programs and websites are designed for the bigger size. The 1080 is the length for the height, which is why it is so important since most sites and apps now a days are bigger than 768.

Apple Retina Display - Change the resolution for more usable screen space

I love the Retina Display on my new Apple MacBook Pro 15. The sharpness and clarity are out of this world. It looks as sharp as if you are viewing it in high definition.real life Only problem is that  in the factory settingfrom factory, the display resolution is set to the Default setting. Which would be is okay except the user would not be for the fact that you aren’t taking advantage of the additional desktop usable space available. See the screenshots below for an example. Follow these steps and you’ll be on your way to a more spacious laptop.

Instructions: Apple Sign \ System Preferences \ Display \ Scaled \ Select More Space for the Maximum Resolution Option

I'm sure you have noticed the bit of legal-sounding text that your friends have been posting on Facebook. Here is an example:

"As of September 29th, 2015 at ##:## pm. Eastern Standard Time, I do not give Facebook or any entities associated with Facebook permission..."

Yes that one. It's meaningless. You don't need to share it in order to protect your privacy.

Reasons Why You Should Upgrade to The New iPhone 6S

iPhone 6S

As most of us have probably heard by now, Apple has announced the launch of The New iPhone 6s on September 25th. Truthfully, most of the components of the iPhone 6s are already featured on certain phone brands and to most people would not appear exceptionally innovative.

However, the overall design and aesthetic appeal of the iPhone 6s makes it the best phone to date even with its few shortcomings. Till this day, I am still amazed at how the many uncomplicated issues have avoided detection and have snuck past the Apple's product development team. For example, the infamous reoccurring landscape where the iPhone device would get stuck in the landscape mode causing a great inconvenience for the user. Also, the chapter titles in the users’ audiobooks in the iBooks App are not available. If you want this feature, the user may have to get the Audible.com app or some other application that would include the feature. Finally, the sporadic iPhone app may freeze while on a phone call, especially when ending a conference call causing a great inconvenience for the user.

In conclusion, I've experienced the same if not worse quality of issues with other phone brands. Unfortunately, you may have better luck finding The Holy Grail than a product or software without flaws.

Be that as that may, hope is not lost with the iPhone 6s due to profound reliability, performance, an outstanding megapixel back camera, and unmatched 3-D touch technology. With all this said, I will tell you for those iPhone lovers like myself, why you should still get this remarkable new piece of technology.

REASON # 1: RELIABILITY

Two years is the most I recommend to stay with the same phone for business owners or those who work in a fast paced environment, even if you feel you don't need it. In the tech world, a lot of things happen in this time frame and you need to get the edge wherever you can. Most of the devices we use today have technologies that are seamless to us but are there working hard behind the scenes improving our productivity.

Also this is an opportunity to get new hardware and renew your warranty at no additional cost. A new device reduces your risk of being without a phone due to a hardware failure and if something where to happen, you are also covered. The longer you use a device, the higher the odds are of it failing.

REASON # 2: PERFORMANCE

This is another reason I have always gotten the new iPhone, year after year. My iPhone 6 is pretty fast but the new iPhone 6S has a 70% faster processor (brain) and 90% faster graphical processor (graphics brain). This phone has got some real power.

As if this wasn't enough, the iPhone 6s also features LTE Advanced (when not connected to Wi-Fi) and Wi-Fi with speeds up to twice as fast as its older brother.

From someone that uses every ounce of power this phone has got to offer, every time that I have upgraded to the new one, I have noticed an improvement in its speed. As a business person and power user, I need to work as fast as possible. The quicker I can get things done, the better it is for my clients and those who I work with.

REASON # 3: 12 MEGAPIXEL BACK CAMERA

Being a fine art photographer as well, I'm especially excited with this new upgrade. The details of the pictures you can now take with the back camera will be greatly enhanced; finally. You can now record 4K videos (better than HD) as well. The back camera went from 8 megapixels to 12 megapixels. The front camera also got a boost, it went from 1.2 megapixels to 5 megapixels and the screen is able to be used as a front-facing dual-tone flash. Very cool.

Skype video calls will look sharper and smoother, your word processing apps, articles and books will be easier to read and navigate through. You will be able to take better pictures of your products, co-workers, staff as well as better quality videos for general business needs.

REASON # 4: 3D MULTI-TOUCH TECHNOLOGY

The new 3D multi-touch technology senses how hard you press the screen. This will make navigating within your apps and the phone's interface a lot easier. It will allow sub menus to pop up for additional settings or options.

I can't wait to see what my business apps will allow me to do now with this new feature.

FINAL THOUGHTS

In conclusion, I will be getting the new iPhone 6S as soon as it comes out and I hope you will also appreciate it’s aesthetical and innovative design. I hope I have given you some insight as to what to expect with this new release and the best reasons I found so far as to why to get the new iPhone 6s. I wish there was more to tell you and for a company like Apple, I always expect more. At least, I will be able to work faster than I do now.
